History about the WKU Foundation:Chartered in 1993 History about Craig Alumni Center:Named after W.J. "Uncle Billy" Craig who organized the Alumni Association in the 1920's. The House was the president's home from 1931 until 1960 when it was converted to an Alumni Center. The wing that houses the College Heights Foundation opened in 1969. |
Tax StatusAs a non-profit organization, the Foundation is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the 1986 Internal Revenue Code as amended. The Foundation has been classified by the IRS as a public charity operated for the benefit of a state university as defined in the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 Section 170(b)(1)(A)(iv). Contributions to the University through the Foundation by individuals, corporations, organizations and other foundations qualify as tax deductions.
